Widely regarded as one of the hottest comedy nights among the Arab community and beyond. Comedians with roots in the Arab world attempt to prove the naysayers wrong! After a very successful sold-out 13 editions, Arts Canteen’s Arabs Are Not Funny is back with very interesting line-up of comedians, representing the Arab world and surrounding regions, looking for an opportunity to showcase their talents.

ACTS IN ENGLISH.

Confirmed comedians :

– Adam Jamal Hailing from Canada, Adam Jamal is a witty, and charming comedic character. Adam graduated from the prestigious Second City Stand-Up program and has appeared on Canadian television over a ten times in 2014 alone. He headlined the famous Yuk Yuk’s Stand-Up Comedy Club in Hamilton, Ontario, was featured on the Nubian All-Black Comedy Show, and won the Ryerson’s Got Talent Competition in October 2014. He has performed throughout North America and is notorious for seamlessly incorporating his unique life experiences into his act, making him a exciting and intriguing comic to observe.

– Houssem Rhaiem (Tunisia / UK) Witty, story teller observational comedian, performed in big clubs around the UK. – Kai Samra Ayoung and exciting stand up comedian. Within his first year he has won the Up the Creek competition three times, a Finalist in the Bath Comedy Festival New Act of the Year and a Semi Finalist in the Amused Moose competition 2017. He has just opened for Paul Chowdhry at Watford Colluseum Arena and has gigged professionally up and down the country with Dane Baptiste, Romesh Ranganathan and featured on the BBC Asian network.

– Jenan Younis A London based comedian of Iraqi and Palestinian descent. With a background as lethal as that, you won’t fail to be unpleasantly amused; she brings to the stage the less than glamorous leftovers of her day job intertwined with culturally inappropriate, politically unacceptable and explosively funny anecdotes. You’ll be educated as well as entertained. “Sharp, hip smart comedian – Not to be missed!” (The List)

– Janine Harouni A Lebanese-American stand up and sketch comedian. Her sketch trio ‘Muriel’ recently won the Leicester Square Sketch Off and will be performing their first Edinburgh show ‘Muriel: Bad Master’ at the Underbelly this summer. She was also a finalist in the Max Turner Comedy Competition.
